I am thrilled we are able to offer you the new album Hard Love by our dear friends and long time tour partners NEEDTOBREATHE! The album came out just a few weeks ago but has not been available on vinyl until this month. It is their first Billboard #1 album.

I first came to know NEEDTOBREATHE as a fan, taking Ellie to see them at the Ryman in 2012. I thought they put on one of the most energetic and soulful live shows I had ever seen. A little while later a friend of ours was on the road as a guitar tech for the band and gave Bo Rinehardt a copy of our album Chasing Someday. I was checking twitter one random day and Bo had given me a shout out about how he liked our music. We met a few months later at a radio conference in Boulder CO, and then they invited Ellie and I sing with them onstage at Minneapolis’ First Avenue. This was the beginning of a long friendship.

I have toured with NTB 3 times, first as a solo acoustic opener, then as a band, then on the inaugural Tour De Compadres, playing venues like Red Rocks, the Greek Theatre and dozens of other bucket list venues. We made deep friendships with the band and made a lot of new fans. I am forever grateful to them for introducing us to their vast fanbase.

This new record is a bold step on a bigger stage. Big sounds, big songs, and lots of musical stretching, introducing horns, gospel choirs, synth beats, and nods to pop music that are absent on most of their other records. Bear’s voice is one the most powerful and soulful I’ve ever heard and this album showcases it better than the rest of their discography, in my opinion. They never play the rules with songwriting, eschewing the predictable verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/solo/chorus model of so much popular music, instead taking their fans on a diverse musical journey. We hope you enjoy this record breaking new album by NEEDTOBREATHE.
